Standards for Editing Practice

As a small business owner, I pride myself on my professionalism and excellent customer service. I aim to establish amiable working relationships with my clients and will always do everything in my power to ensure they are satisfied with the service I provide.

As an editor, I adhere to the Institute of Professional Editors’ Australian standards for editing practice

I will endeavour to reconcile the needs of the author, the audience and the publisher.” This will ensure a project as the best chance of success in the market and that my client is satisfied with the end result.

I will “demonstrate initiative and flexibility, adapting to the needs of the project”. Every work of fiction is unique, as are the needs of each individual client. I will approach each project according to these needs.

I will “communicate clearly and tactfully, and … respect the opinions of others.” As a writer, I understand the work and effort required to create a work of fiction, which will reflect in the way I provide feedback and suggestions to my clients.

I will “ensure that the [manuscript] is consistent and correct, and that its content, language, style and layout suit its purpose and meets the needs of its audience.” With an eye for detail and a strong command of written English, I aim to accurately and thoroughly edit every manuscript entrusted to me.
